ON HOPE - A DIGITAL SONG CYCLE, April 2020

During the 2020 pandemic, Matt Powell and Victoria Saxton in collaboration with The Other Palace curated on hope: a digital song cycle, a 3 part musical theatre trilogy blending live performances and pre-recorded songs written by over 60 international composers and featuring over 100 performers whilst in isolation during the first UK lockdown.

Bella Barlow composed two songs for the project, 'THANK GOODNESS' a comical song about being 'locked-down' with the person you love, music by Bella Barlow, lyrics by A.C. Smith, which debuted in On Hope - Part One, and a song 'TURQUOISE BLUE' - about a child longing for fun just out of reach, written in collaboration with book writer / lyricist Nikki Racklin which debuted in On Hope - Part Two.

Composer Bella Barlow was able to be involved with this incredible project during Lockdown whilst also welcoming her baby girl Rosa, into the world. She was 41 weeks pregnant when she recorded the Barlow & Smith Video for On hope - Part One.
